Pastor Don HarkeyPastor Don Harkey was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina on September 6, 1943 to Harry and Anna Harkey. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1961 and upon completing four years of service to our country, relocated in Michigan as an employee of Fisher Body, Livonia.

It was during this time that he felt a call of God to the ministry. He completed his religious education and received a bachelor’s degree from Midwestern Baptist College in May, 1982. He was honored with a doctor of divinity from Midwestern Baptist College in May, 1993.

On January 20, 1968, he married the former Janet Wiar, who was a native of the Detroit area. The Harkeys have two adult children. Daughter Lori Ann is married to Ron Foor and they have three children, Jolie, Carson, and Joshua. Their son David received a bachelor’s degree from Moody Bible Institute and is currently working on his masters degree at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.

Pastor Harkey came to Cambria Baptist Church on March 6, 1971 this being the first and only pastorate he has served. God has grown the attendance from 35 people to a membership of 300. Under his leadership, the church has expanded through four building programs and currently enjoys an updated sanctuary with a seating capacity of 460 seats. In 1999 the church also added a full size gymnasium facility which houses a large kitchen area and a two-bedroom apartment to house missionary families.

The quest for finding a good church is something that can be a life long search. Each family seeks for a church that will meet the needs of its members, no matter what stages they are in life. Our vision at Cambria Baptist is to be a Biblically based faith community, pointing people to a Savior who can meet their every need. We offer many ministry opportunities for all ages, and we welcome each of you to join us in worship and fellowship as we serve Christ together.
